Karthikeyan Rajamani, PhD
A health sciences researcher whose work sits at the intersection of environmental exposures, molecular biomarkers, and human health outcomes.
His research focuses on interesting subjects — oxidative stress, translational biology, vascular biology, and organ damage. He has been driven by a fundamental question: what are the primary factors causing endothelial cell damage that enhance injuries in the vascular bed and promote organ damage?
How does abnormal cell signalling change the landscape of the molecular mechanisms of normal organs? The crux of many diseases lies in the blood vessels, and it is important to find the response through molecular markers before adverse outcomes of diseases occur, with the goal of working towards prevention.
Dr. Rajamani seeks to understand the biomarkers of effect and exposure that play a vital role in organ failure through non-invasive sampling techniques, while maximising the quality of life for the populations he studies.
